Sub-series Description

Arranged alphabetically by subject, this sub-series contains Stauffer Chemical Company Subject Files, which were collected and maintained by John E. Stauffer. The files in this sub-series concern a variety of subjects that were of interest to John E. Stauffer, Hans Stauffer, and other Stauffer Chemical staff.

Files concerning chemicals and chemical products manufactured by Stauffer Chemical or were of interest to the firm make up the largest components of this sub-series. Smaller, but noticeable, numbers of files regarding Stauffer Chemical internal matters, chemical processes (including those used by Stauffer Chemical and those of interest to the firm), and plants operated by Stauffer Chemical are also present here. Small numbers of files regarding Stauffer Chemical’s markets and other miscellaneous subjects are also preserved in this sub-series. Documentation of John E. and Hans Stauffer’s activities regarding the subjects represented in these files is also found here.

The contents of the Subject Files consist of a wide variety of materials. Correspondence, articles, and reports are the most common materials found in this sub-series. Smaller, but noticeable, amounts of notes, press releases, and publications are also present in these files. Small amounts of other miscellaneous materials, including, but not limited to, legal documents, copies of patents, and financial documents are preserved here as well.
