The Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital of Philadelphia was established in 1848 as the Homeopathic Medical College of Pennsylvania. In 1869 it was absorbed by the Hahnemann Medical College of Philadelphia which had been founded in 1867 under an earlier charter granted to Washington Medical College. In 1885 it merged with the Homeopathic Hospital of Pennsylvania and became the Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital of Philadelphia. In 1982 the name changed to Hahnemann University.
