Sub-series Description

Arranged numerically by photograph number and alphabetically by subject, this sub-series contains the Beckman Coulter, Incorporated Image Files. The images found in this sub-series concern a wide variety of subjects pertaining to the Beckman concern. A majority of the images are of the products and facilities of Beckman Coulter's various corporate predecessors, including, but not limited to, Beckman Instruments, Incorporated, National Technical Laboratories, and Coulter Corporation. Also present in this sub-series are numerous images of company founder Arnold O. Beckman, and a few images of Mabel Beckman, members of the Beckman family, and Beckman Instruments personnel. A handful of images of Coulter Corporation's co-founders Joseph and Wallace Coulter, and members of the Coulter family are also found here.

The contents of the Image Files consist of a variety of formats. Photographic prints are the most common items found in these files. Large numbers of photo negatives, slides, and transparencies are also found within the Image Files. A significant amount of accompanying materials, including, but not limited to, indexes, press releases, notes, brochures, bulletins, catalogs, reports, article reprints, and indexes are found in these files as well.

General Note

A handful of files in this sub-series do contain not images, their contents consisting of accompanying materials only. These imageless files are kept here because they were determined to be an integral part of the Image Files sub-series. It is also believed that some of these files formerly contained images that are now missing.
