From the Collection:

The Beckman Historical Collection contains the corporate records of the American scientific and medical instrument manufacturer Beckman Coulter, Incorporated and the personal papers of American scientist and industrialist Arnold O. Beckman. The collection is arranged into the following fourteen series:

Sub-series Description

This sub-series contains the Beckman Coulter, Incorporated photo albums. Boxes 63-88 are arranged alphabetically by subject. The contents of Box 89 are arranged alphabetically by subject. A large majority of the images found in this sub-series pertain to Beckman Coulter’s corporate predecessor Beckman Instruments, Incorporated. Images of products manufactured by Beckman Instruments make up the largest component of the materials preserved in the photo albums. A significant number of images of Beckman Instruments facilities and personnel are also found here. A number of other miscellaneous images pertaining to Beckman Instruments, including, but not limited to, presentation transparencies, drawings, graphs, sample analyses, and exhibits are found in this sub-series as well.

In addition to the Beckman Instruments materials, this sub-series contains a significant number of images of company founder Arnold O. Beckman. A small number of images of products manufactured by Beckman Coulter corporate predecessors Arnold O. Beckman, Incorporated and Helipot Corporation are also found here. A handful of images of products manufactured by Industrial Instruments, Incorporated and Altex Scientific, Incorporated, a pair of firms acquired by Beckman Instruments, are preserved in this sub-series.

In terms of format, the contents of the Photo Albums consist of photographs, negatives, and transparencies. A small amount of accompanying materials, including inventories, maps, programs, press releases, and clippings are found in the Photo Albums as well.
