The Beckman Historical Collection contains the corporate records of the American scientific and medical instrument manufacturer Beckman Coulter, Incorporated and the personal papers of American scientist and industrialist Arnold O. Beckman. The collection is arranged into the following fourteen series:

Series Description

Arranged numerically and alphabetically by publication number, and alphabetically by company name, this series contains instructions and manuals for products manufactured by the Beckman concern. A very large majority of the materials in this series were printed by Beckman Instruments, Incorporated. A noticeable number of items printed by National Technical Laboratories and Beckman Coulter, Incorporated, are also found here. Single examples of instructions and manuals printed by Beckman Coulter’s corporate predecessors Arnold O. Beckman, Incorporated, Specialized Instruments Corporation (Spinco), and Liston-Becker Instrument Company, Incorporated are also preserved in this series. Single examples of instructions and manuals printed by Hanford Engineer Works, Research Equipment Corporation, and Technicon Instruments Corporation, and four United States Department of the Navy manuals for Beckman atmosphere analyzers are preserved in this series as well.

The contents of this series consist mainly of instructions and manuals concerning the assembly, operation, maintenance, and repair of instruments manufactured by the Beckman concern. Technical bulletins, catalogs, specification sheets, and price lists pertaining to Beckman products are found in this series as well. A few of the instruction manuals printed by Beckman Coulter, Incorporated include CD-ROMs.
