Scope and Content
The Records of Carbogel, Incorporated contain corporate records generated by Carbogel, Incorporated. The collection mainly documents Carbogel, Incorporated’s administrative and research and development activities during the time period in which the donor, Richard M. Goodman, was employed by the firm as a Project Director (1984-1987). It also contains a small amount of material documenting Goodman’s consultant work for Energy International, Incorporated, another alternative fuels technology company.

Series Description
Formed in 1985 by a group of ex-Gulf Oil Corporation employees, Energy International, Incorporated was a firm concerned with the commercialization of non-petroleum-based energy technologies. Energy International contracted with Chevron Corporation, who was then in the process of assimilating Gulf Oil, to purchase the rights to the coal-based technologies Gulf Oil had been developing. Richard M. Goodman served as a consultant to this firm after his departure from Carbogel, Incorporated.
