Series Description
Arranged in its original order, this series contains IUPAC’s General files, which were generated between 1919 and 1973. Boxes 131-133 contain files concerning the following subjects:
- Membership of IUPAC Units
- International Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry (ILACh)
- UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)
- United Nations
Box 134 contains “Miscellaneous” files, which mainly concern the ability/inability to arrange or otherwise direct meetings involving the international community. They include correspondence between IUPAC Secretariat members Jean Gerard, Leo Baekeland, Charles Parsons, and other notables.
Correspondence makes up the largest component of the materials found in the General files. Other miscellaneous materials, including membership documents (drafted at IUPAC’s XXVth Council Meeting at Cortina D’Ampezzo, Italy in July 1969), reports, minutes, and United Nations documents are preserved here as well.
