Series Description

Arranged in its original order, this series contains IUPAC’s General Files, which were generated between 1919 and 1996. The files in this series concern a variety of IUPAC internal and external administrative matters.

Files concerning Associated Organizations (including the International Council of Scientific Unions) and IUPAC publications constitute the largest portions of this series. Smaller, but noticeable, numbers of files regarding IUPAC’s Finance Committee, nomenclature for Transfermium Elements, names for Elements 104 onwards, and the IUPAC-International Union of Biochemistry liaison are also present in the General Files. A variety of other miscellaneous subjects, including, but not limited to, IUPAC Standing Committees and a handful of meetings and conferences are also preserved here.

Correspondence makes up the largest component of the materials found in the General Files. Small amounts of other miscellaneous materials, including reports, press releases, and minutes are preserved here as well.
