Series Description
The National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE) is an American professional organization. Founded by a group of African American chemists and chemical engineers in 1972 and currently headquartered in Pasadena, Maryland, NOBCChE works to increase the number of minorities in the science, technology, and engineering fields. The organization seeks to achieve this through educational and professional programs.
William A. Lester, Jr. joined the NOBCChE at its founding in 1972 and was a longtime active member. He served on the NOBCChE’s National Board from 1984 to 1987.
This series contains William A. Lester, Jr.’s NOBCChE Files. The files in this series provide documentation of Lester’s activities with this professional organization. The contents of the NOBCChE Files are arranged into the following five sub-series:
