The William A. Lester, Jr. Papers contain the professional and personal papers of African American theoretical chemist and chemistry educator William A. Lester, Jr. The collection is arranged into the following thirteen series:

Series Description
Arranged alphabetically by subject, this series contains appointment books and notebooks belonging to William A. Lester, Jr. Ten notebooks, which provide limited documentation of Lester’s day to day activities between 1978 and 1996 (including his various professional activities with Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory and the University of California, Berkeley, and his attendance at various conferences, symposia, and meetings) are found in this series. A notebook containing an unidentified data set compiled by Lester while working at the IBM Research Laboratory in San Jose, California is also present in this series. A notebook providing a very limited amount of information regarding Lester’s various professional activities is also preserved here.
Two of the appointment books include accompanying telephone directories kept by Lester. The IBM notebook includes accompanying computer punch cards.
