Scope and Content
The Microscopy Society of America Records contain the organizational records of the Microscopy Society of America. This collection also includes the professional and personal materials of the following four prominent members of the Microscopy Society of America which were donated to the organization: Ernest F. Fullam, Sterling P. Newberry, Oliver C. Wells, and Donald F. Parsons. The collection is arranged into the following seven series:

Sub-series Description
Arranged alphabetically by subject, this sub-series contains Oliver C. Wells’ IBM Files, which he collected and maintained during his tenure with the firm. The files in this sub-series contain a small amount of documentation of Wells’ research and development work on scanning electron microscopy (SEM) at IBM. These files also contain some documentation of research and development work conducted by several of Wells’ IBM colleagues on scanning electron microscopy that was of interest to him.
Reports make up the bulk of the materials found in the IBM Files. Small amounts of correspondence, invention disclosures, blueprints, notes, sketches, and photographs are preserved in this sub-series as well.
