Scope and Content
The Philip E. Rakita Autograph Collection contains miscellaneous autographed items signed by eminent individuals involved in science, which includes, but are not limited to, chemists, physicists, and corporate executives. Among the autographs preserved in this collection are the signatures of seventeen Nobel Laureates. The Philip E. Rakita Autograph Collection is arranged into the following three series:

Series Description
Arranged alphabetically by subject, this series contains items autographed by eminent individuals involved in science which were collected by Philip E. Rakita. Items signed by chemists and physicists make up the largest components of this series. Items signed by a few corporate executives, a physician, a biologist, a television science personality, and a chef are also present here.
Autographed letters and autographed photographs are the most common items found in this series. Other autographed items, including menus, programs, and autograph cards are also present here. A small amount of accompanying materials, including a CD-ROM of scanned autographs, non-autographed letters, manuscripts, notes, and a genealogy are preserved in this series as well.
