Scope and Content
The Albert Bowers and Gwynn Akin Bowers Papers contain the professional and personal papers of British organic chemist and pharmaceutical company executive Albert Bowers and American pharmaceutical company executive Gwynn Akin Bowers. The collection is arranged into the following seven series:

Sub-series Description
Arranged chronologically by date, this sub-series contains Albert Bowers’ Speech and Presentation Files. These files contain materials pertaining to some of the speeches and presentations given by Bowers as a Syntex Corporation executive between 1975 and 1989. Most of the speeches and presentations represented in this sub-series were given by Bowers at business and industry group meetings and Syntex employee meetings. Speeches and presentations given by Bowers at other miscellaneous functions, including, but not limited to professional conferences and Syntex social functions are also present here.
Files concerning speeches and presentations given by Bowers regarding Syntex business matters, the direction of Syntex, and pharmaceutical industry matters make up the largest components of this sub-series. Small numbers of files concerning other miscellaneous topics, including, but not limited to, retirements of Syntex executives, legislative matters, and public health and social issues (including AIDS) are also preserved here.
Speech manuscripts, presentation manuscripts, correspondence, and photocopied presentation slides are the most common materials found in the Speech and Presentation Files. Small amounts of other miscellaneous materials, including, but not limited to, notes, articles, attendee lists, publications, and brochures are preserved here as well.
