Sub-series Description

Arranged alphabetically by subject, this sub-series contains Gwynn Akin Bowers’ Personal Files. The files in this sub-series contain materials of a personal nature that were collected by Akin. A majority of the files concern her husband Albert Bowers, which consist mainly of materials regarding his death. A few files concerning Gwynn Akin Bowers herself, which include those concerning her membership on the University of California, San Francisco’s Board of Overseers and the dedication of the Dr. Gwynn Akin Bowers Auditorium at Tulane University are also present in this sub-series. A single file containing a gift label from Mary Bowers is also preserved here.

Correspondence, which mainly concerns condolences received by Akin after her husband’s death, constitutes the largest component of the Personal Files. Small amounts of other miscellaneous materials, including, but not limited to, lists, invitations, articles, programs, and gift labels are preserved here as well.
