Biographical sketch
George B. Kauffman was born in 1930 and attended the University of Pennsylvania as an undergraduate. He received his PhD from the University of Florida. His speciality in the History of Chemistry and he is the recipient of a Dexter Award.
Biographical sketch
Claude K. Deischer studied at the University of Pennsylvania and taught there from 1928 until his retirement in 1971. His specialty was the History of Chemistry and he served as curator of the University of Pennsylvania's Edgar Fahs Smith Memorial Collection Library. He died in Bryn Mawr, PA in 1992.

Collection consists of 55 lined note paper sheets of handwritten notes taken by George B. Kauffman as a student in Claude Deischer's History of Chemistry course at the University of Pennsylvania in 1950. The notes cover the entire course. Pages are handwritten in multiple pens with red and blue pencil underlining with small pen drawings.
