First Day Cover Chemistry Stamp Collection
Content Description
This collection consists of seven first day covers with chemistry themes, affixed to envelopes. The first is a stamp for the American Chemical Society, commemorating their Diamond Jubilee. The stamp is affixed to an envelope for the 75th Anniversary of the American Chemical Society, with an illustration of a man working in a lab. The envelope is stamped “New York – Sep 4 – 9 AM – 1951” and includes a signature from M.H. Arveson, the president of the American Chemical Society. The next stamp is the same as the aforementioned but is affixed to an envelope from the American Chemical Society celebrating their Diamond Jubilee. The envelope has an illustration of a chemical plant and two men working in a lab and is stamped “New York – Sep 4 – 9 AM – 1951”. The next stamp is from the United Nations and is dedicated to “development through science and technology”. The stamp is affixed to an envelope with an illustration of a man working in a lab with the text “UN Development through SCIENCE and TECHNOLOGY”. The envelope is stamped “United Nations – Feb 4 – 9 AM – 1963”. The next stamp is for water conservation and is affixed to an envelope with an illustration of a lake with a “water conservation” sign. The text below the illustration reads “In connection with the Seventh National Watershed Congress”. The envelope is stamped “Washington D.C. – Apr 18 – 9 AM – 1960”. The last three stamps are from the Deutsche Bundespost and are all affixed to the same envelope. The envelope has a picture of a man working in a lab with the text “FORTSCHRITT IN WISSENSCHAFT UND TECHNIK”. The envelope is stamped “BONN1 – FORTSCHRITT IN TECHIK UND WISSENSCHAFT – 14.8.1964 – ERST-53 AUSG.”.
