Abstract

Business records, printed materials, artifacts, audio-visual materials, and photographic materials of BetzDearborn, Incorporated, an American chemical company that manufactured water treatment chemicals for commercial and industrial applications. The materials in this collection mainly document the history of BetzDearborn's two corporate ancestors: Betz Laboratories, Incorporated and Dearborn Chemical Company.

Scope and content

The notebooks contain tentative lecture schedules on a range of topics, including water purification, waste disposal, cleaning and polishing agents stain removal, and aromatic compounds, as well as the procedure for writing out laboratory experiments. Additionally, forty-three laboratory exercises are detailed with topics ranging from stain removal and color-fastness tests, to qualitative analyses of commercial tooth pastes, deodorants, and face creams.
