The notebooks contain tentative lecture schedules on a range of topics, including water purification, waste disposal, cleaning and polishing agents stain removal, and aromatic compounds, as well as the procedure for writing out laboratory experiments. Additionally, forty-three laboratory exercises are detailed with topics ranging from stain removal and color-fastness tests, to qualitative analyses of commercial tooth pastes, deodorants, and face creams.

Organizational files collected and maintained by American chemical engineer and dry cleaning industry executive Jerome B. Schapiro. The files in this collection document Schapiro’s involvement with several policy making and advocacy organizations concerned with textile product and safety standards, especially as applicable to the dry cleaning industry.
