Chemists' Club (New York, N.Y.)

This notebook contains forty-nine pages of laboratory notes taken by Chandler in Gottingen as a pupil of Prof. Friedrich Wohler in 1854 and in Berlin as a pupil of Prof. Heinrich Rose in 1855.

This is a list of patents kept by Chandler with a brief typed description of each patent's claims.

This notebook contains nearly typed, categorized citations gleaned from Chandler's voluminous readings on the subject.

The Seven Food Colors is a commonplace book into which Chandler has pasted government regulations and articles of interest. In it he also jotted down his own observations on the various dyes used as food colors.

The collection consists of an illustrated brochure describing The Chemists Club, a program for the ACS Diamond Jubilee Dinner and a philatelic bulletin from the United States Post Office describing the stamp issued to honor the ACS Diamond Jubilee. A copy of the actual stamp is included.

While his collection does not contain all of the paper types created by Hunter, it includes a goodly selection of them. The pieces assembled the Exposition of Chemical Industries is a catch-as-catch-can affair, but also contains a nice selection of examples for study purposes, included some by other eminent paper-makers.
