Background Note
The Commercial Development and Management Association (CDMA) was a non-profit chemical industry association. It was the product of a 1999 merger between the Commercial Development Association (CDA) and the Chemical Marketing Research Association (CMRA).
The Commercial Development Association and The Chemical Marketing Research Association long held joint meetings because of their commonality of interests. In 1998, the potential for a merger was investigated and the motion was approved by their respective memberships. In 1999, the merger was consummated, and the CDMA was founded. The merger occurred because of the recognized need for a unified, international organization dedicated to strengthening the ability of business professionals to build and grow companies.
The Commercial Development and Management Association provided its members with professional skills and business networking opportunities. There were several regional chapters that hosted meetings and speaker events for its members. The Commercial Development and Management Association held two national meetings every year for all members to attend. Members also received access to newsletters, educational programs, and programs facilitated in collaboration with partner organizations. In 2009, the CDMA joined with the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA) as a Special Interest Group.
