Biographical sketch

Homer J.[ames] Hall was born in Uniontown, PA on December 12 1911. He attended Marietta College and received his Ph.D. in 1935 from Ohio State University. He worked for ESSO (Standard Oil of New Jersey) for forty-one years and was the inventor of detergent jet fuel. In addition to his work with the American Institute of Chemists, Hall was also an active member of the American Society of Information Science and Technology. He died in Exeter, NH on April 26 2008.
