Biographical sketch

In 1954, Perkin-Elmer acquired Askania GmbH and set up operations. At the same time they began to gather primary and secondary materials for a museum dedicated to instrumental analysis. This became the Bodensee Perkin-Elmer Museum of Instrumental Analysis, Uberlingen. In 2000 it was decided to close the museum and dismantle its collections, a large portion of which were transferred to the Chemical Heritage Foundation, Philadelphia, PA.

Abstract

These are the surviving files of the scientific instrumentation museum established by the European branch of the Perkin-Elmer Corporation in Bodensee, Germany. The processed portion of this collection is arranged into four series: Museum Administration Files, Research Files, Technical Information Files and Workshops. The unprocessed portions are broadly listed as Miscellaneous. Collection partially processed in 2003.
