Biographical sketch
In 1863 E.F. Carey was working as an assistant pharmacist in Providence, RI. By 1875 he had relocated to Haverhill, MA and was apparently in business for himself.

This is a leather bound pocket ledger. The binding is worn. Approximately twenty leaves have been ripped out, none too cleanly from the back of the book. The notebook contains recipes and formulas developed or copied by E. F. Carey while working as an assistant pharmacist in Rhode Island and as the owner operator of a pharmacy in Massachusetts. Includes recipes for hair wash and dye cough syrup, writing ink, coloring billiard balls, rheumatism relief, and more.
