Biographical sketch

Frank H. Stodola was born in Hopkins, MN on June 18, 1905. He received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Minnesota in 1933 and after postgraduate work at Yale, the Mayo Clinic and abroad, he taught at Columbia University from 1942 to 1957. From 1957 until his retirement in 1957 he headed the chemistry section of the Fermentation Division of the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research.
