Biographical sketch
The Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906 was a United States consumer protection law. The law outlawed the manufacture, sale, or transportation of adulterated or misbranded foods and drugs and required active ingredients be written on the packaging. Wiley, Chief Chemist at the United States Department of Agriculture from 1882 to 1912, was instrumental in the passage of the law.
