Notes on the original Vibrating Reed Electrometer: Vaniman notes
Scope and content
This collection consists of a tan vinyl ring binder containing Vaniman's original notes and schematics for a Vibrating Reed Electrometer constructed for the Argonne National Laboratory in 1947. The binder offers a fairly comprehensive account of the conception and construction of the instrument.

Biographical sketch
Russell E. Vaniman (1916-1987) was one of the founders of Applied Physics Corporation. The firm later became known as Cary Instruments and still later, as Varian. Applied Physics Corporation specialized in the manufacture of analytical instrumentation such as the Vibrating Reed Electrometer that Russell Vaniman built for the Argonne National Laboratory.
