Biographical sketch

Although the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) was not founded until 1919, individual national chemistry societies were tabulating data on atomic weights of elements and their isotopes. Reports generated by an American Chemical Society Committee on Atomic Weights began appearing in 1892. IUPAC's Commission on Atomic Weights and Isotopic Abundances began submitting reports as early as 1920 and continues to issue them. The commission is now known as the Commission on Isotopic Abundances and Atomic Weights.
