Scope and content
The collection contains materials relating to the 1980 Sino-American Symposium on Chemistry of Natural Products, dating from 1977-1982. Materials consists of a program, newspapers, ephemera including menus and cards correspondence and manuscript drafts. In addition, there is a small amount of correspondence from J. [Jerrold] Meinwald, professor of chemistry at Cornell University, regarding the symposium. There is also a poem written by Wang Yu, a professor of at Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, that was presented at the symposium.

Biographical sketch
Margaret Pei Chuan Seidel (ňe Lee) was a professor of chemistry at Montgomery County Community College (Blue Bell, Pennsylvania). She retired in 2000. The Sino-American Symposium on Chemistry of Natural Products was held in Shanghai in 1980.
