Biographical sketch

Dow Chemical Company was founded by Herbert H. Dow in 1897. Headquartered in Midland, Michigan, the company was initially founded upon a method invented by Dow for extracting bromine from brine. At first the company sold mainly bleach and potassium bromide and mainly to other chemical manufacturers. Today Dow is a multinational corporate selling a large variety of products to industry and consumers alike.
