The collection consists of all of the materials still extant gathered by Mazurs in connection with his book and includes original research notes by Mazurs, photocopies of historical documents, reprints of scholarly articles, art work (some prepared especially for the book) and models.

Biographical sketch
Mazurs was born and raised in Latvia but fled to the United States following World War Two and the ensuing Soviet takeover. He worked in the chemical industry at which time he began his task of collecting types of periodic tables of the chemical elements. He later taught at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA.
