Biographical sketch
Joseph A. Castellano received his doctoral degree from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. He began his career at Witco, but by 1965 had joined the RCA Laboratories in Princeton, NJ. There, with Joel A. Goldmacher, he performed pioneering research in liquid crystal materials and displays. He was the recipient of RCA Laboratories Outstanding Achievement Award in 1966 and, in 1969, was awarded the David Sarnoff Outstanding Achievement Award for his work in this field. In 1973 Castellano joined Princeton Materials Science, Inc., one of the world's first LCVD watch manufacturers.
