Biographical sketch

J. Hartley Bowen Jr. was born in New Jersey in 1914. He graduated from Drexel University in 1938, and was employed as a Supervisory Chemist in the Aeronautical Materials Laboratory. He remained with the Naval Laboratory in its subsequent moves to Johnsville, then Warminster, PA.

Abstract

This is a small collection of primary and secondary source materials detailing work done at the Naval Air Experimental Station in Philadelphia and later in Johnsville, PA during World War II and the Cold War period. Much it concerns the uses of atomic power and the effects of atomic fallout.
