Background Note
Mary Ellen Jones (1922-1996) was a researcher in the fields of amino acid metabolism and pyrimidine nucleotide metabolism. She was born in LaGrange, Illinois and died Waltham, Massachusetts. She received degrees from the University of Chicago and from Yale University but spent the bulk of her career (1968-1995) at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
