Biographical sketch
Franklin J. Van Antwerpen was born in Patterson, NY on November 28, 1912. He earned his Ph.D. from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and served as Executive Director of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (A.I.Ch.E.) from 1955 until 1978. Prior to this he served as editor of the society magazine CEP and was founder of the AIChE Journal and International Chemical Engineering. He retired in 1978 and died in Doylestown, PA on October 13, 2001.
