The bulk of the collection is made up of Thanuum's "Users Files." These tracked the ownership and shipping dates of the individual Cary instruments. The remainder of the collection is the sort of trade literature that a sales person would be expected to use in his work.

Background Note
Cary Instruments was begun by Howard Cary and Russell Vaniman in 1946 as Applied Physics Corporation. In 1966 Cary Instruments was purchased by Varian Medical Systems and became the Cary Instruments of Varian.
