The Pioneer of Little River: by Gordon H. Pritham

Charles H. Pritham was born on September 30, 1878 in Little river, ME. He died on November 4, 1961 in Upper Darby, PA. After graduating from the University of Maine at Orano, he worked in various industrial positions in Detroit Chicago, Milwaukee and Erie before settling in as a consulting chemist in San Francisco, where he and his wife experienced the devastating 1906 earthquake. Both became active in earthquake relief work. Further moves to Bristol, TN and Bridgeport, CT followed. In January 1917, he received an appointment to the staff of the Frankford Arsenal in Philadelphia, PA. His areas of expertise were explosives and ordinance. Except for briefs periods of duty in Washington, D.C. He remained at the Franklin Arsenal for the remainder of his career, retiring in 1948. Charles H. Pritham served on the board of the Franklin Institute, and was a member of the ACS ASTM and the "Poor Richard's Club."
