Scope and content

The advertising is more puff than substance, but there is a useful list of the various products marketed by the Virginia-Carolina Chemical Company in the years 1916-1917. These are organized by type and include "guaranteed analyses" of the Ammonia, A.P.A. and Potash contents of each product. A former owner of the notebook wrote some figures in pencil on the first blank page, but they don't seem to add up to much.

Biographical sketch

Virginia-Carolina Chemical Company manufactured fertilizers sold under the V-C Fertilizers brand. Their products were widely used in the tobacco industry. The company appears to have gone through several mergers and acquisitions and no longer exists under its original name.

General Note

This is a 3 x 5.25 inch pocket notebook meant to be given as a promotional item. It contains 36 lined, unnumbered pages two pages of advertising (one in the front one in rear of the notebook) and inside front and back covers featuring calendars for the years 1916 and 1917 respectively. Additionally, the front and back covers feature advertisements for fertilizers produced by the Virginia-Carolina Chemical Company.
