This collection contains photographs, negatives, and transparencies from Bailey's career as an educator and polymer scientist. Images include William Bailey participating in a bullfight, group portraits at various conferences, teaching, candid shots and portraits. The collection also includes photographs of Bailey's awards, correspondence, and an exhibit of his work created by the American Chemical Society (ACS).

Background Note

William J. Bailey was a polymer scientist, administrator, and teacher. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the University of Minnesota and studied with Carl S. "Speed" Marvel. Bailey researched trans diene polymer, and ring opening polymerization as well as degradable polymers. He was President of American Chemical Society as well as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
