Scope and content

This collection consists of a small file consisting of three letters concerning items of apparel made from Du Pont Nylon fibers. These letters were clearly regarded by Du Pont as historically valuable. The oldest, from February 15, 1937 concerns stockings made from Rayon 66. The other two concern stockings made from nylon and the first commercial shirt made of nylon. Letters are from C. E. Sparks, Hazel K. Greigg, and L. A. Yerkes.

Howard S. Turner letter accompanying donation of Corfam shoes

Scope and content

In this letter which accompanied the donation of a pair of Corfam shoes to the Chemical Heritage Foundation museum Turner discusses DuPonts early work with this nylon-coated fabric substitute for leather. Letter is written on white copy paper with a return address sticker on top of page.

Synthetic fibers charts

Scope and content

The chart titled 1949 Table of Synthetic Yarns and Fibers originally appeared in the September 1949 issue of Textile World where it accompanied an article by the editor, C. W. Bendigo entitled Newer Synthetics Are in the Spotlight. The other entitled Rayon is a whole family of fabrics, was published by the Consumer Service Section of Avisco (American Viscose Corporation) as Wall Chart E-1 and is undated.
