Howard S. Turner letter accompanying donation of Corfam shoes
Scope and content
In this letter which accompanied the donation of a pair of Corfam shoes to the Chemical Heritage Foundation museum Turner discusses DuPonts early work with this nylon-coated fabric substitute for leather. Letter is written on white copy paper with a return address sticker on top of page.

Biographical sketch
Howard S. Turner was born in Jenkintown, PA on 27 November 1911. He studied at Swathmore College and received his Ph.D. from MIT in 1936. From 1936 through 1947 he was employed by E.I. DuPont de Namours and Company as a researcher. He left DuPont to accept a position as Director of Research & Development at Pittsburgh Consolidated Coal Company where he remained until 1954 when he became Vice-President of Research and Development at Jones & Laughlin Steel Company. In 1965 he started his own business, Turner Construction Company serving as its President until 1970 and thereafter as its Chairman of the Board.
