The bulk of the notebook consists of notes relating to Prof. Harts lectures on Chaucers Canterbury Tales, taken down from November 25 through December 16, 1850. Lectures X through XIII are included. There follows a section of notes on Trigonometry and the notebook concludes with 56 pages of notes on Chemistry, covering Lectures II through V. There are an addition three pages loosely laid in, two of which are in French.
