Frederick Carl Strong III autograph collection
Scope and content
There is no real focus to the collection, in that Strong's principal interest was in the autograph rather than the contents, which are, for the most part, routine notes or inquiries. There are several Nobel laureates and a few outstanding American chemists represented.

Biographical sketch
Frederick Carl Strong III was born in Denver, CO on Nov. 17 1917. He studied at Swarthmore College, Lehigh University and Bryn Mawr College receiving his Ph.D. in chemistry from the latter institution. Strong taught chemistry in the United States and abroad, mostly in Asian nations. He was editor of Applied Spectroscopy from 1955 through to 1961. He died on March 3, 2003 in Lewisburg, PA.
