Biographical sketch
Johann Deisenhofer was born in Bavaria in 1943. Educated at the Technical University of Munich, he pursued post-graduate studies at the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry, Martinsried. In 1988 he relocated to the United States taking a position as Medical Researcher at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute of the Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.

Abstract
The collection consists of correspondence, reprints of published papers and notebooks kept by Johann Deisenhofer during the years 1972 and 2005. The post-1987 correspondence is also preserved in CD-Rom format. Much of the correspondence and the earlier notebooks are written in German.
